First Generation Students & Alumni : Career Support Resources

The Online Career Service Teams goal is enhancing the career preparation cycle to ensure that First Generation students and alumni receive the knowledge and career information they need to secure stable, high-paying jobs in the future workforce.

SNHU offers an online First Generation Learning Resource Group for all students and alumni to join! This is a place for first generation college students & alums to build community, share stories, find resources, and offer feedback. (Questions about the learning group? Contact: ODI@snhu.edu).

  • Center for First-Generation Student Success(CFGSS) – This resource was created through a NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) initiative and provides First-Gen students with a wealth of resources for professional development and mentorship.
  • National Student Employment Association (NSEA) – First-Generation College Students & Student Employment  – Focuses on researching supports needed to aid First-Gen students in their initial jobs as student workers and subsequent job searches post-graduation 
  • I’m First – I’m First!, an initiative of UStrive, is an online community celebrating first-generation college students. Check out video stories from first-gen students, read student blogs and discover colleges that have special programs to support their first-gen students.
