What is an experiential learning course at SNHU?

  • Experiential learning is a short-term educational professional development or training experience opportunity that allows students to explore professional development; certification preparation and/or professional practice experiences, completing a minimum of 60 hours in that experience.
  • The primary goal of the experiential learning opportunity is to expose students to actual practices in the professional workspace outside of the classroom. The students will relate this experience to academic coursework and synthesize the practical application of knowledge in an experiential setting.
  • Students may take experiential learning to earn up to 6 credits.

What graduate level courses are available?

IT-697 Amazon Web Services Cloud Foundations

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Foundations course is intended for students seeking an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. This course helps prepare students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam.

IT-697 Introduction to Scripting Languages Using Python

In this course, you will get up to speed with the basics of programming with hands-on work using the Python programming language. You’ll also create simple to somewhat complex programs using Python language starting with simple printing, doing repetitive tasks, and creating some simple games like that of predicting numbers and creating secret coded messages.

IT-697 Designing the Internet of Things

This course will utilize a combination of hardware components as the basis for an Internet of Things (IoT) device and to create an IoT application. The cost of required materials that will be needed by most students is approximately $160.

IT-697 Structured Query Language

The objective of this course is to learn Structured Query Language (SQL). Students will be exposed to different levels of SQL. Students will learn to retrieve information from relational databases. Students will be using different features of SQL to learn the great potential that SQL can provide database developers in retrieving information from a relational database.

IT-697 Blockchain with Python

Students will learn the fundamentals of Blockchain concepts with Python, including creating decentralized applications. By developing simple scripts, students will understand how to build a basic Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. This course will also focus on blockchain technology for IT professionals in various industries.

IT-697 Azure Cloud Foundations

Azure Fundamentals is an opportunity to learn Microsoft Azure cloud concepts, Azure services, Azure workloads, security and privacy in Azure, as well as Azure pricing and support. Students taking this course should be able to sit for the Azure Fundamentals Exam AZ-900.

IT-697 AI Literacy

This introductory module delves into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), tracing its evolution from the early concepts of the 1950s to today’s sophisticated technologies. It covers fundamental AI technologies, including machine learning and neural networks, and explores generative AI, a cutting-edge field producing novel AI-generated content. Additionally, students gain practical experience by engaging with leading AI platforms, fostering a deeper understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations in real-world scenarios.
