Title: Environmental Field Lead

Location: Milwaukee/Madison, WI

What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a regular full-time Environmental Field Lead to support active projects and lead field investigations, primarily near our office locations in the midwestern US but also nationwide as necessary. The successful candidate will be able to work alongside others in a fast-paced environment and be enthusiastic about their work with a strong commitment to health and safety and technical excellence.

Responsibilities:

Below is a summary of responsibilities that can be anticipated:

  • Lead site investigation teams including environmental sample collection (soil, sediment, surface water, and biota) primarily in the Wisconsin area and other areas throughout the Midwest, however travel outside the Midwest to support projects across the US as needed should be assumed.
  • Perform groundwater sampling, monitoring well development, and testing.
  • Collect and identify fish species for chemical testing and population surveys using a variety of sampling techniques which may include netting, trapping, and electrofishing.
  • Operate a variety of sampling vessels including small jon boats, skiffs, and pontoon boats.
  • Maintain DOT driving certification and operate company vehicles (pickup trucks, vans, box trucks) including trailering boats and other small utility trailers.
  • Perform field data collection using digital field technologies (tablets, GPS, specialized monitoring equipment)
  • Conduct construction monitoring activities, including oversight, air monitoring, water quality monitoring, and environmental sample collection (in-water and on land)
  • Record field notes for the specific tasks performed at each site.
  • Follow Anchor QEA policies and procedures including, but not limited to, environmental health and safety, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Interact with project managers and agency staff (daily reporting, communicate field deviations, project status updates)
  • Perform general equipment management and maintenance duties.
  • Work in an office environment, performing field data management, writing data summaries, and other tasks using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Travel away from home office is required up to 50% of the time.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Associate’s degree and minimum of 5-7 years of related fieldwork experience or a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience
  • The ability to work closely with other technical specialists as part of a larger project team.
  • The ability to lead field crews, numbering from 2-5 staff, consisting of field technicians and scientists.
  • Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS, use of field tablets for data collection) is preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Small vessel experience and/or boaters’ certification
  • Clean driving record

Salary and Other Compensation:

  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:

  • Vacation: 2 weeks accrued paid vacation based on length of service. Vacation may vary by level.
