Applications are accepted for the 2025 Maine Government Summer Internship Program during February. Positions will be available in town and city governments and in agencies of the Maine state government. Full time, paid internships will run May 27 through August 15, for a total of 12 weeks. All majors may apply.
To be eligible for the program, a student must be completing at least their second year of college and be either a Maine resident or attending a college or university in Maine. Graduating seniors and graduate students are eligible. Review of applications begins March 1, 2025, and continues until all positions are filled.
The internship program comprises 50+ internships. Each internship is different and students are selected based on skills identified on their applications. Job areas include education, engineering, communications, conservation, law, data analysis, finance, environmental science, human resources, and everything in-between.
Most internships are based in the Augusta area. A number of internships will be available in other locations which in the past have included Bridgton, Caribou, Gray, Saco, Union, Sanford, Bethel, Presque Isle, Portland, Bangor, Rockland, and others.
