Position Overview

We are seeking motivated college interns to join the team at A.I.R. Gallery, the longest-running alternative space for women artists, this summer. Interning at A.I.R. provides an opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of managing an arts organization and gallery space. Through working with the staff and the artists at the gallery, interns will become familiar with the unique nature of A.I.R. and become a part of its rich fifty three year long history.

The work includes direct interaction with the public, assisting with mailings and gallery publicity, exhibition research, cataloging incoming information and facilitating communication between the staff, the artists, and the public. Collaborating with the small team at A.I.R., interns take the lead on specific projects and take on a multitude of responsibilities. These projects will provide interns with experience to help them determine which aspects of arts administration excite them and what future opportunities they would like to pursue.

Interns will work together to develop a final project that makes A.I.R.’s archives more accessible to the public in the form of a small printable sourcebook.

Key Responsibilities:

Helping with administrative tasks such as responding to inquiries and answering phone calls

Formatting printed matter for exhibitions and programs

Interacting with the public and presenting A.I.R.’s mission in a positive and engaging light

Processing archival materials from the organization’s 50+ year history

Developing content for social media promoting upcoming exhibitions and events

Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Familiarity with Adobe recommended

Duration:

10 week Summer Internship: June 8 – August 14, 2026

Intern will work 7 hours a day from 11-6PM Wednesday-Sunday
