About Pyxl

Pyxl is a digital marketing and technology agency that combines strategy, branding, marketing, design, development, and AI to help organizations grow. For more than 18 years, we have helped clients transform their brands, improve their digital experiences, and produce measurable business results.

We believe AI can expand what creative teams are capable of producing—but the technology is only as powerful as the person directing it. We are looking for an emerging designer with exceptional visual instincts, strong creative curiosity, and a passion for using generative AI to create distinctive, high-performing marketing content.

The Opportunity

Pyxl is seeking a Junior AI Creative Designer Intern who can combine traditional design principles with emerging generative AI tools to create compelling paid social, digital advertising, branding, and email creative.

This role is ideal for a college senior, recent graduate, or early-career creative who is already actively experimenting with AI image and video platforms. You may be the person who tries a new model the week it launches, builds personal projects to test what it can do, and understands that producing an effective commercial asset requires much more than entering a prompt.

You will work remotely with Pyxl’s paid media, marketing, and creative teams to transform campaign strategies and creative briefs into polished static images, animations, short-form videos, email graphics, and scalable creative variations for clients across multiple industries.

This is a hands-on creative production role. It is not a software development position, and it is not a traditional graphic design internship.

What You’ll Do

  • Create distinctive static, animated, and video assets for paid social campaigns across Meta, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
  • Design visual assets and motion elements for email campaigns, including animated graphics, GIFs, campaign imagery, product storytelling, and promotional creative.
  • Use generative AI platforms to develop original imagery, environments, product scenes, characters, visual effects, transitions, and short-form video concepts.
  • Translate creative briefs, audience insights, campaign messaging, and brand standards into platform-appropriate visual concepts.
  • Produce multiple creative variations for testing different hooks, formats, compositions, offers, visual treatments, and calls to action.
  • Adapt creative into required formats and placements, including 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, and other campaign-specific dimensions.
  • Combine AI-generated material with traditional design, editing, compositing, typography, and motion techniques to deliver polished final assets.
  • Remove visual artifacts, correct inconsistencies, and refine AI-generated output so the final work does not look generic or unfinished.
  • Work with Pyxl’s paid media team to understand which creative is performing and use those insights to develop new iterations.
  • Help build reusable AI creative workflows, prompt libraries, visual reference libraries, and production processes.
  • Research and test emerging AI image, video, animation, audio, and editing platforms.
  • Organize source files, generated assets, prompts, licenses, and final deliverables according to Pyxl’s production standards.
  • Participate in virtual creative reviews and clearly explain the creative thinking and production process behind your work.
  • Follow client confidentiality, brand safety, copyright, music licensing, privacy, and likeness-usage requirements.
  • Use only Pyxl-approved tools and workflows when working with client information, proprietary assets, or identifiable individuals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current college senior, recent graduate, or emerging creative with a background in motion media design, graphic design, advertising, animation, film, digital media, visual effects, creative technology, or a related discipline.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong visual taste, composition, typography, storytelling, and attention to detail.
  • Examples of AI-assisted image or video work that demonstrate creative direction—not merely unedited outputs generated from prompts.
  • Experience creating motion-based content, short-form video, social content, or digital advertising.
  • Working knowledge of one or more generative AI tools such as Higgsfield, Runway, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Kling, Veo, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with relevant production tools such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, CapCut, Figma, or similar applications.
  • Ability to take an AI-generated concept through editing, compositing, and final production.
  • Understanding of how creative requirements differ across social platforms and placements.
  • Ability to receive direction, incorporate feedback, and manage multiple projects and client brands.
  • Strong attention to deadlines, details, file organization, and quality assurance.
  • Curiosity and the ability to learn unfamiliar creative platforms quickly.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving agency environment where tools and creative requirements continually evolve.

Remote Collaboration Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in virtual meetings and creative reviews during Pyxl’s standard working hours.
  • Reliable internet access and an appropriate remote workspace.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to communicate proactively about deadlines, capacity, and project status.
  • Experience collaborating through platforms such as Slack, Asana, Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other shared production tools.
  • Authorization to work in the United States in a location where Pyxl is able to employ team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing creative for paid social or performance marketing.
  • Familiarity with direct-response advertising, creative testing, and conversion-focused design.
  • Experience creating product-focused, lifestyle, ecommerce, or UGC-style content.
  • Knowledge of basic paid-media metrics such as click-through rate, conversion rate, hook rate, hold rate, cost per acquisition, and return on ad spend.
  • Experience designing graphics or animation for email marketing.
  • Understanding of audio editing, voice generation, captions, and music licensing.
  • Familiarity with brand systems and adapting creative across multiple clients without making every brand look the same.
  • Personal creative projects, social channels, or experimental work demonstrating active exploration of generative AI.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first several months, you will be able to:

  • Consistently transform a creative brief into polished, on-brand campaign assets.
  • Produce meaningful creative variations quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment about when AI improves the work and when traditional design or editing is more appropriate.
  • Reduce the time required to develop motion-based paid social creative.
  • Build repeatable AI-assisted workflows that other members of the Pyxl team can understand and use.
  • Respond to campaign-performance insights with thoughtful new creative iterations.
  • Create work that feels intentional, original, and appropriate for each client—not like generic AI-generated content.

Internship Details

  • Type: Part-time internship
  • Compensation: $15/hour
  • Hours: Approximately 20–29 hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote
  • Duration: 6+ months
  • Candidate profile: Current college seniors, recent graduates, or comparable early-career creatives

What to Submit

  • Your résumé.
  • A link to your portfolio, website, Behance profile, or relevant social channel.
  • Two to four examples of AI-assisted creative work.
  • At least one motion or short-form video example.
  • A short explanation of the tools and process used to create one featured project.
  • A list of the AI creative platforms you currently use or are actively learning.

Applications without relevant creative work will not be considered. Traditional professional experience is not required if your portfolio demonstrates exceptional creative ability, strong design fundamentals, and meaningful experimentation with AI.

Selected finalists may be invited to complete a short, compensated creative exercise based on a fictional campaign brief.

Equal Opportunity

Pyxl is committed to building a collaborative and inclusive workplace. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, business needs, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to our clients and team.
